Photographs Recently Discovered of the Otterburn Property, 1950-1955
Recently discovered from the memorabilia of her mother, Tina Poladian Leger recently provided me copies of these fascinating photographs taken approximately between 1950 and 1955 of the Otterburn house and surroundings. The people in the photographs were residents of the Hines Memorial Pythian Home. The Home purchased the property in 1950 and by 1953 had constructed the dormitory which still stands on the property, illustrated in some of the photographs below. Ms. Leger's mother, Thelma Louise Vaughan Poladian is sitting on the front granite steps of the house in the top center photograph.
The photographs also show the original front facade of the house, the large trees surrounding it, and several farm and office structures which were on the site at the time of the Home's purchase. These buildings vanished long ago; these photographs are the only ones showing them that have come to my attention. Thanks to Tina for her thoughtfulness in sharing them.
I will update the page with more information periodically.
